I'm happy to announce that starting with the MWAVE 4v4 tournament and moving forward into the second season of the CG 4v4 Squad Rush ladder, Supermango will be sponsored by Australian gaming host GloGaming.

2011 Member of the Year

2011 has been a huge year for [ADF] � perhaps the largest in our seven year history. An unprecedentedly successful recruitment campaign has seen our membership explode from less than 20 members to over 80, we've begun hosting our own gaming servers on the back of a successful donation drive, and our scrim teams have thus far dealt a 3-0 blow to the Australian Battlefield 3 community. So, before I get to awarding this year's Member of the Year, I'd like to say thanks. Thanks to every one of you guys who, through your participation on these forums and in-game, have made 2011 a very successful year for [ADF]. I'm proud to have each and every one of you on board here.

Now, down to business. I've been pondering the 2011 Member of the Year medal for some time now (since about September). Perhaps the most important (although clich�d) throat-clearing I have to make, however, is that this was an incredibly difficult decision to make. Deciding a member of the year is never an easy decision to make � mostly because there are always multiple contenders for the award � but this year was particularly hard. We've seen extraordinary time, effort, and money put into [ADF] by a myriad of different members, and choosing just one of them for this award was painstakingly challenging.

For this reason, I am not awarding this medal to just one member this year. I am awarding it to two. So, without further ado, I hereby present the 2011 [ADF] Member of the Year award to [ADF] Chief of Staff SharkyMcShark and [ADF] Chief Officer Hous_Bin_Farteen.

SharkyMcShark has been a fantastic asset to the [ADF] clan this year. His work within the [ADF] Executive Command as an advisor to the President has greatly helped ensure the quality of clan policy since his promotion to clan Chief of Staff. Furthermore, his ability to promote the clan as an ambassador and recruitment officer was demonstrated without question when he recruited a total of 10 new members to our ranks in 2011 � thus winning him our pre-release clan recruitment competition. Also worth mentioning are Sharky's financial contributions to the clan, which have included his generous providing of a clan Ventrilo server and small donations in other areas. Finally, Sharky's work with the ADFINT intelligence corp has helped solidify the quality of our membership base and in-game strategy. Congratulations Sharky, and thank you for your efforts in 2011.

Similarly, Hous_Bin_Farteen has proven himself a fantastic asset to the [ADF] clan in 2011. Through a refined ambassadorial skill-set, Hous_Bin_Farteen has spent 2011 working to ensure that this year's rapid membership increase was met with a parallel increase in our ability to welcome potential recruits, to reach out to new members, and also to discipline new recruits. Furthermore, he has brilliantly adapted to his role as the clan's Chief Officer, and has systematically provided the clan's Executive Command with a wealth of helpful policy advise pertaining to clan rules, citations, ranks, and strategic doctrine. Finally, Mr. Bin_Farteen has also provided substantial financial assistance to the clan since the start of 2011. So to Hous_Bin_Farteen as well, congratulations, and thank you for being such a great asset to the clan in 2011.

Please join me in congratulating these two and thanking them for their efforts in 2011!

The "I'm Hunting Sifulch" Competition!

As its getting close to Xmas, [ADF] Vice President Sifulch thought it would be good to run a competition for one of you to win something.

So here is someone's chance to win a Panasonic DVD-S33! The objective of the competition is very easy. Over the 10th-11th of December weekend, [ADF] Sifulch will be jumping in and out of servers where clan members are playing (or not playing). The first member to get his "DOG TAGS" wins the DVD-player! He will stay in servers for a complete round or perhaps even half of a round before moving on. He will most probably be online after 8pm S.A time (8:30pm Sydney time).

He will try and join servers with enough room for you to be on the opposing team, but hey, its a competition and he's not going to make it easy for you all.

So come and join in! It could take 5 minute or 5 hours to get his tags. The winner will be announced by our forums. This competition is only open to [ADF] members.

Oh, and if the prize is not won this weekend, then Sifulch will simply run it the following weekend until it's won.

Start sharpening those knives, and see you on the Battlefield!

December Promotions!

A fresh round of promotions have been awarded to several of our members!

Perhaps most noteworthy is the induction of member nzduke into our officer corps. Also worthy of special mention are members AvengerNoonZz and Delta-560. These three have received substantial upgrades in rank due to their consistent presence at [ADF] clan events, on Ventrilo, on public servers, and on the forums. Congratulations to them and every one of you who also received a promotion during this cycle!

Medals will be handed out during January's promotion cycle, including [ADF]'s prestigious Member of the Year medal for 2011 � our most active year ever! In the meantime, however, I'd like to congratulate clan officer Neonolis for receiving [ADF]'s Member of the Month ribbon for November, 2011. Neonolis' work during [ADF]'s first internal scrim was of exceptional effort and quality, and he was thus the best choice for December's member of the month. Please be sure to congratulate him.

If you believe you were entitled to a promotion but did not earn one, please send me a PM and we will discuss it.

Finally, several members were purged from our members list this month due to total inactivity and AWOL status. These members were Skeep, Chpliph, EasternStar, AFFROPANDA, couchi, and fnkychkn. They are welcome to re-apply in the event of a misunderstanding or if a valid excuse for extensive inactivity is presented.

The following members are currently at high risk of earning AWOL status before January's purge: SixthLaw, Upformurder, Skynet_ID, AlphaBeta90. Please make contact with the [ADF] Executive Command if your name is on this list.

Upcoming Membership Purge

This is an important notice directed at all current [ADF] members.

On the 28th of November, one week from today, the [ADF] Executive Command will be evaluating the activity levels of all our current members. In accordance with our rules, we will be dismissing members who have been away from our forums and/or Ventrilo server (without notifying clan officers of their absence) for a period of greater than 30 days.

As most of you are aware, the clan has currently closed off recruitment due to issues with over-capacity. We will be removing inactive members in order to make way for new recruits in the future. Please ensure that you are activiely engaged with the clan on a regular basis if you wish to remain a member. If the reason for your absence is due to a desire to simply play with [ADF] on public servers only (and not scrim or engage in our forum discussions) please consider applying for social status in the Barracks forum.

November 8th Promotions!

Today marks the beginning of our new tri-weekly promotion cycle. Accordingly, the clan officers, CENTCOM, and Executive Command have convened and handed out a bunch of new promotions and medals to our members!

Worthy of special mention are:

Promotions
Romulus - Promoted to General for stellar activity and raw skill following the release of BF3.
Neonolis - Promoted to Second Lieutenant for high engagement with the clan and displaying leadership.
Macro - Promoted to the officer class rank of Warrant Officer for showing leadership skills and consistently providing information to clan leadership.
SecroNiTE - Promoted to Gunnery Sergeant for being an excellent ambassador toward potential recruits.
9Fingers - Promoted to Specialist for making a superb entrance into the clan ranks following his recruitment.

Statement Regarding Recruitment

Earlier this month, after around 3 weeks of having membership recruitment on hold,the [ADF] Executive Command decided to re-open clan recruitment to the public. Within a matter of days, however, we unexpectedly received a further 25 applications from potential clan members. We are still processing most of those applications today.

Put simply, we cannot expect to processes the huge number of potential applications coming in and also expect to dedicate sufficient time and resources to our current members. Our primary commitment is to our current members, after all, so we will not be taking new applications for the time being.

That said, however, we will be extending limited invitations to exceptional players who we believe will fit well within the clan. Applications will be posted on behalf of these players by the clan's Executive Command. We are sorry if this comes as an inconvenience.

Battlefield 3 Beta Debriefing

As expected, the Battlefield 3 open beta tests ended yesterday. We managed to get some great games in! It was unfortunate that the game's squad system was painfully inefficient for clans such as our own, however, but we're optimistic that DICE will rectify this issue for the full game. We've got something to look forward to in that regard. The lack of clan tags on the game's scoreboard was also disheartening, as it hindered our efforts to get out name onto the Australian Battlefield 3 scene nice and early. These are only minor losses in the context of the big picture though!

All in all, we benefited greatly from our participation in the beta. The Executive Command gathered valuable data concerning our pre-selection of Tier One clan members who will participate in our Special Forces division, we learned a lot about the game itself, we increased our Ventrilo server capacity, and we will begin assessing the clan's direction in light of this new information in the officer's forums soon.

We're more excited than ever to get some competitive games going, to squad up in public servers, and to get our name out there. We hope you're looking forward to the next few months as much as we are!

More New Medals

We've decided to give another touch up to the [ADF] medal/citations collection!

As you probably know, the [ADF] Executive Command typically rewards members with both ribbons and medals -- ribbons for minor achievements, medals for major achievements. Today we decided to re-label these two categories as "Advanced Citations" (for medals) and "General Citations" (for ribbons). Along with that, we have the usual "Service Citations" that we award for service within particular games and clan divisions. Finally, we've created a whole new category of contributor medals! We've added the following to those four categories:

�Service Citations

* Strategist Service Ribbon: For those who serve on our strategy development team.

General Citations

* Member of the Month Ribbon: Awarded monthly.
* Chief of Staff's Badge of Honour: Awarded by the clan Chief of Staff.
* Officer Commendation Ribbon: A ribbon awarded by officers!
* Recruitment Expert Ribbon: A step toward the recruitment expert medal for those who recruit 2+ new members.
* The Camaraderie Ribbon: Awarded for excellent attitudes toward fellow members.
* Combat Engineer Badge: For those of you who know how to fix a tank.

Advanced Citations

* Member of the Year Award: Converted from a ribbon to a medal and given a totally new look!
* Gold Star: Redesigned.

Contributor Citations

* Platinum Contributor Medal: For those who have donated $300+
* Gold Contributor Medal: For those who have donated between $100 and $300.
* Silver Contributor Medal: For those who have donated between $50 and $100.
* Bronze Contributor Medal: For those who have donated between $10 and $50.

[ADF] Battlefield 3 Beta Launch Party!

It's finally beta time!

To celebrate, we're going to try and drag all of you guys into the public Battlefield 3 beta servers on Friday the 30th of September. Now, the closed beta will have been out for two days already, but we've decided to go with the open beta for the launch party just so everyone has the chance to get in and tear up the field together.�

There aint' no party like an S-Club Party, so this flyer is the closest I could get unfortunately.

So make sure you're online at 7:30PM Sydney time on the 30th for some BF3 action! The server will be decided on the night, so make sure you're on Vent so you know where we are.

[ADF] Battlefield 3 Server Announcement!

The [ADF] Executive Command is happy to announce that [ADF] will be running a 64-player Battlefield 3 server on the release day of Battlefield 3 in late October!

We've made a pre-order with trusted EA partner i3D.net for a 64-player public server based in Sydney. As stated, it goes live on release day! The server will be running all maps, will have settings aimed at replicating the play style of BF2 (no kill cam, regular mode, no 3D spotting etc), and will be running conquest 64 mode.

We'll also be able to use the server for clan events, practices, friendly scrims, and social gatherings at our own discretion.

Also, thanks to all those who have donated we've got enough cash to keep it running for three months without any issues! Financial contributors will most definitely be rewarded for their efforts in the near future.

Any suggestions regarding server settings and rules are welcome!

To celebrate the flood of Battlefield 3 information that came with GamesCom this week, we've put together a few BF3-themed avatars for you guys to use on the forum! There's 15 in total for now, but we'll be adding more in the run up to BF3's release.�

If you have any of your own ideas for Battlefield 3 avatars that you wish to share with the clan, feel free to PM your ideas to Homer on the forums. They need to be in .jpg format and 100x100 pixels in dimension to qualify for forum use. Battlefield 3 screenshots are a great place to start.

As we draw closer to the release of Battlefield 3, we here at the [ADF] Executive Command have decided to add a few more medals for our members. While we still have more to come, today we're unveiling the:

Combat Medical Badge: For excellence in combat medic duties.
Air Service Medal: For excellence in piloting. Officer Service Ribbon: For serving with the [ADF] Officer corps.
Central Command Service Ribbon: For serving with the [ADF] Central Command.
Executive Command Service Ribbon: For serving with the [ADF] Executive Command.

�As always, we're open to ideas for new medals! (Particularly those that cater to Battlefield 3).

In other news, [ADF] would like you to welcome Hous_Bin_Farteen to our Officer corps. Having served for a number of years with [ADF], we felt it was about god damn time that Hous_Bin became one of the clan's valued Officers. Congratulations mate!

Finally, there have been a number of other minor promotions handed out. There's nothing too substantial there, but we felt a few of you deserved them. Enjoy.

[ADF] Special Forces Division Opening Soon!

The [ADF] Executive Command is happy to announce that our Special Forces division will be opening for limited try-outs shortly! Members of a rank of Specialist or higher will be eligible for try-outs. While specific recruitment criteria has yet to be finalised, we can tell you that recruitment will be based on the availability, skill, commitment and teaching skills of potential members.

The [ADF] Special Forces division will fulfill a series of roles within the clan's battle doctrine. They will serve as our elite squad, responsible for high-risk maneuvers in clan matches. They will also help mentor and train our regular divisions in clan practices. Joining ADFSF is basically a great way for our more committed and skilled members to get the most out of their time at [ADF]. We'll keep you posted!

Quick Pre-E3 Update

The E3 gaming convention begins a week from today. We're expecting (or more accurately, hoping) to see some kind of news on Battlefield 3's multiplayer features which, at this point, have received little attention from DICE. The company's exclusive focus on the single-player side of the game has been frustrating for clans such as our own, and we're hoping that E3 generates an interest in the game's multiplayer modes. After all, we'll be playing a whole lot more MP than SP in [ADF].

Until then however, we've updated everyone's forum profile to accurately reflect their current clan rank. If you can find any errors, please be sure to let us know! We'll also be reviewing your medals soon too. Finally, we'll be holding a clan meeting in the near future so you can all share your ideas for our future with the Executive Command.

Only 5 months to go until BF3 now men!�

Upcoming Social Games + Happy Birthday Hous_Bin_Farteen!

To celebrate the opening of our first [ADF] Bad Company 2 server this week, the [ADF] Executive Command has lined up two social games for our members to enjoy. The first will be held on Thursday evening at 21:30 AEDST and the second will be on Friday evening at 20:30 AEDST. Thursday's game will be open to the public and will mark the beginning of our Battlefield 3 recruitment campaign. Friday's game, however, will be strictly for clan members only, and will involve playing a series of insanely fun mini-games for a few hours. Details are available for members in the Operations Command forum.

This is pretty much how it will look, but with more gunfire and less posing.

In other news, I would like to wish [ADF] member Hous_Bin_Farteen a Happy Birthday on behalf of all of our members! We all hope you had an awesome day, and that those skateboarding kids have finally gotten off your lawn you old bastard.�
