DICE Confirms Dedicated Server Support for BF:BC2 and BF3

After the recent incredibly awful decisions by Codemasters and Infinity Ward not to put dedicated server support in their games, the Battlefield teams have officially come out and addressed the issue with regard to their games (via Twitter... lol).

This is a relief to the [ADF] leadership as both gamers and competitive clan leaders. We're still holding out hope that Codemasters and Infinity Ward will come to their senses and provide dedicated server files for their games, but in all honesty, we're not overly optimistic.

In other news, I would like to welcome theline1982 to the clan ranks. He was recruited on Oct. 19th as a Private into our OFPDR division. Please make him feel welcome.

They must be rubbing thier hands together at the moment thinking that thanks to CD and IW they will be picking up a huge part of the PC market.

Yep. Looks like Valve and DICE might be the future of the PC gaming market. Hopefully BF3 does really well in terms of sales so the other companies can take note.

He seems like an insane bastard - didn't try to open any negotiations with our Chinese brethren, just shot them, or gave them the artillery. I would recommend in future that he try to talk over his difference with our red brothers instead of shooting at them.

I just want to post a big thank you to DICE, actually.

The big problem with Infinity Ward's decision is not only in what it did to the potential of MW2. Along with ruining MW2, it also justified and validated the development team's decisions over at Codemasters. It gave Codemasters less of a reason to develop dedicated server files, and did the same to future titles by other companies. "If Infinity Ward don't do it... why should we", is a likely line of reasoning.

By making this announcement, DICE have signaled that, no, it is not OK to treat your fans and customers like this. They have potentially put a halt (at least temporarily) to what is a very worrying trend. Companies like this need to be supported, and I look forward to the announcement and release of Battlefield 3.
